Our move-out checklist follows what Toronto landlords, property managers and agencies typically review at a final walk-through: kitchen counters, backsplash and cabinet fronts degreased; inside oven, fridge and cabinets cleaned; sink and taps descaled where possible; bathrooms detailed including toilet, tub, shower glass, grout lines and mirrors; baseboards, doors, frames and switches wiped; closets and shelves cleaned; interior windows and sills cleaned; and every floor vacuumed and mopped. If your lease or building has its own checklist, add it to your booking notes.
Appliances are where move-out inspections most often focus. Every move-in and move-out clean includes the inside of the oven — racks, glass and baked-on buildup — and the inside of the fridge, with shelves and drawers removed and washed. Please switch off and defrost the fridge and freezer before we arrive; our Terms note that an end-of-tenancy booking assumes the home is empty and the fridge has been defrosted.
If you've already moved out, you don't need to be there. Leave keys and fobs with concierge, in a lockbox or with your landlord, and add the details to your booking notes. Many tenants book the clean for the day before the landlord's walk-through, so there's time to address anything they notice before returning the keys. Remember that in Ontario a refundable key deposit must be returned when you hand back your keys.
